Pair of Large Antique German Carved Wood Decorative Panels Cupids Angels c. 1850s
Pair of Large Antique German Carved Oak Wood Decorative Panels Cupids Angels c. Description: This large elaborately carved pair of wood decorative panels/elements came to me from Germany and I think they are German judging by the style and craftsmaship. They cut of solid pieces of European oak wood with exceptional skills and artistry. Each panel represents a Cupid or Angel's head with some ornamental carvings. They are made of two oak panels that were most likely pressed together for carving - he heads are made exactly the same so whem brought together they make a full head out of two identical halves. The rest of the elements are not exactly identical but quite similar. Judging, again, by the style and the condition of the wood I date this pair to mid-1800s, maybe even earlier. Both panels are 12.5 tall and a little over 2' thick. The width is slightly different - one is 7" and another is 6" wide. The condition is very good - there are some minor dry splits tha do not disturb the whole structure, very minor wood wear or chipping. Condition: Very good - some age-realted wear, some minor dry splits, no structural damage. Auctiva offers Free Image Hosting and Editing. This item is in the category "Antiques\Other Antiques".
